Evidently old Toyota trucks are pricey too. You guys should really let the rest of us know these things.

That’s ok, the longbed makes it look weird anyway. You don’t want that rusty, weird looking thing!

Of course not, that would totally be against my previous purchasing history.

Tacoma’s depreciation is so low, it tracks with inflation.

I hate the proportions of these custom extended-cab Toyotas.
Also, asking 12 large for this with the mostly-dissolved bed? Fuck no.

83-88s rust away even worse than the 79-83s, even in the PNW. Instead of making them more affordable, it is of course doing the opposite with clean ones selling for stupid money. That demand then trickles down into imperfect examples like this one. There have been a handful of bad resprays over the rust listed on BaT that largely go unchallenged... Just wrong.

Tell me about it. Growing up in 1980s New England, it wasn’t uncommon to see 5-6 y.o. Toyotas sporting pressure-treated decks instead of the original bed, due to how fast they’d dissolve. Their Datsun contemporaries fared no better.
When I moved to Seattle in ‘93, these awkw ard longbois weren’t uncommon, but I’d only seen a handful anywhere else in the country. While I lived in Ballard, there was a house down the street with no less than 2 of them in the driveway at any time (and at one point, the dude had accumulated 4 functioning & 1 parts rig). I think a couple of the conversion companies that built these were in northern California & Oregon.

The superleggera bed design is meant to compensate for the added cab weight.
